When medical treatments cannot cure an illness, hospice services can do a great deal to control pain, reduce anxiety and provide medical, spiritual and emotional comfort to the resident and the family. Sarah Chudnow Campus contracts with many licensed, Medicare-certified hospices. We can provide you with a list of our contracted hospice providers and we will work closely with the hospice provider of your choice. This special end-of-life care program is available to the surrounding community as well as to the residents of the Sarah Chudnow Campus.
Your hospice provider will treat the individual, not the disease. The focus is on relieving pain and treating symptoms of the terminal illness. Working closely with the Sarah Chudnow nursing staff, your hospice doctors and nurses will monitor the individual's physical health. A holistic team of professionals, including friends, family, and caregivers, will tend to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients.
Residents contracted with a hospice provider are encouraged to accomplish goals, close circles as needed with those they care about, and take the time to say goodbye to family and friends. By acknowledging that death is approaching, residents are empowered to live the end of their lives on their own terms.
Staff is sensitive to particular Jewish concerns. Sarah Chudnow staff members understand Jewish religious traditions, such as keeping kosher and observing the Sabbath, accommodating the spiritual needs of residents and family members.
Our rooms dedicated for end-of-life care are specifically designed to provide comfort, privacy and serenity. Each room opens into an enclosed courtyard, allowing residents and their families to remain connected to the outdoors. Other amenities include a spacious lounge and kitchen area, private and quiet for family gathering or contemplation.
